I had just gotten the new debit card with the chip. We see how that helped.

It is my understanding the chip is better protection for retailers, not necessarily the consumer. Basically, if you're not accepting the chip and a card is used fraudulently, the retailer has more liability. Accepting the chip helps prevent fraud occurring at your location.

Obviously there is a benefit for the consumer as locations with the chip are increasing, but until all locations use it, it isn't invincible.

Well if you are swiping, you aren't using the chip.

Wonder how long before they start mandating the switch.
