Where is the OP? In Houston area $40,000 is one notch above a white plaster hole in the ground. When you start adding the things you can picture when thinking of a great pool, it gets to 6 figures quickly. Hot tub, water feature or slide, good plaster like pebble tech, flagstone, it all adds up quick.
Get a hot tub!!!! When you are dropping 88k, what is the difference in 98k? You will love the hot tub and the added heater buy take a chill out of the entire pool adding about a month or so of extra swim days. Wives always bitch about it being to cold. Kids give zero fricks, and will swim until their lips turn blue.
