I don't think those genes are that rare in that area. I caught one on the east side of Leeville last November, and a guide caught a big leopard red on the west side around the same time.That makes three that I know of from within a 5 mile circle in the last 10 months or so. I'll bet there were more. Now I have fished that area for 30 years, and mine was the first that I had ever seen up close and personal. Must be global warming.
