Guarantee that Mattis didn't want to put up with this BS training shite. He was directly questioned about itduring his confirmation hearings because he'd made statements in the past that he opposed all the new gender fads Obozo and his ilk came up with.
Trump just made the statement and owned it himself so Mattis and others wouldn't have to deal with the ensuing barrage of outcry from the left.
