Looking for info to fish rigs in black bay and bay eloi just need some info/what to look for:
what is the best depth?
how far from the rig to start fishing?
attach to the rig and throw out or fish to the rig?
carolina rig/sliding cork?
TIA

We always used sliding corks set at 8ft.
We would depth find them first and fish that side. Throwing on top the legs to about 20 feet off

We mostly Carolina Rig at the rigs. Maybe a cork a few feet down. New rigs we troll around and cast, familiar rigs we used to drop anchor, now we use the ipilot. You may want to be on any side of the rig. You don't see many people tie off.

Have to find them on the rig they can be anywhere from up top to on the bottom to suspended.
For a new to your rig have one person up top, one on the bottom (with something that breaks off easy for when you get snagged), and then something in the middle weather it be a sliding cork or throw and count to six and reel in.
Move around the rig until you find them.

go at night and fish the lighted areas.

Summertime theyll be near the bottom, especially if youre in water deeper than 6 feet.
Get a slip cork and start it 18 inches off the bottom. They could anywhere in the rigs - from inside the rigs to 50 feet away. Just keep trying different areas.
Id anchor far enough away to where youre making a decent cast to get it to the rig.

Does the normal baits work; shrimp, minnows, plastics?

quote:Absolutely. Shrimp should be your go to, but decent sized trout will smoke a croaker. If youre in shallower water, free-lining a croaker or a pogie is a good technique.

You can jig with plastics with success, but if youre just just starting out at rigs then grab some bait.
