What is your answer?
Not SCOOP, but there has to be a basic lack of right and wrong in the culture, where differences are solved with bullets. It goes to the proper functioning family unit. A simple explanation, but upon expansion, it works.

White people are flooding back into Atlanta in huge numbers and pushing the poor people into the suburbs. The crime rates in the suburbs, the inner suburbs at least, are on the rise and the crime rates in Atlanta are on the decline for that reason. Gentrification and upscale building is pricing the ghetto out and fueling the lower murder rate in Atlanta.

Is Atlanta not similar to NO in that too?

That's happening in NO.

It's a legitimate question.

No idea then. That's the only thing that I can think of. Atlanta is a very diverse city, so color isn't the problem. I will say, from my experience in Atlanta, that the crime is limited to the ghetto. It rarely spills over into tourist and more upscale areas. I know that the French Quarter has a rising crime problem in NOLA.

Because you can't get your gunshot victims to a level one trauma center fast enough.
I had a Mobile Police Officer tell me that if it weren't for the location of the University of South Alabama Hospital, a level one trauma center, on Stanton Road, Mobile would have the highest murder rate in the country.

check out how many fortune 500 companies Atlanta and NOLA each have...NOLA , exactly one, a utility company...ATL probably 10-20 ....the sad part about this is in 1960 NOLA and ATL had basically the same demographics and business culture...one has become a major business center and the other is exactly same as it was in 1960...guess which is which?,,,,this is part of the problem...and the generational poverty that has become a way of life in NOLA....and I hate ATL, get there often for business, and love NOLA, call me crazy

I used the cities in your OP and did some research... wow... it follows the trend exactly. The blacker the city the higher the murder rate.
Black percentage:
1. New Orleans 58%
2. Cleveland 50%
3. Newark 49%
4. Cincinnati 42%
5. Oakland 24%
6. Tulsa 15%
7. Minneapolis 14%
8. Fresno 7%
Murder rate:
1. New Orleans 45.17
2. Cleveland 35.05
3. Newark 32.99
4. Cincinnati 22.10
5. Oakland 20.99
6. Tulsa 20.34
7. Minneapolis 9.00
8. Fresno 7.50

Marietta, Gwinnett County and all of DeKalb county with the exception of Decatur, yes. East and North Cobb not so much. Paulding is seeing an increase in the areas closer to Atlanta. Douglas County is as well. The hood is being pushed out into otherwise low crime areas.
My uncle is the DA in a metro Atlanta county and knows all of the inner workings of crime in the metro counties.

What about Lawrenceville, Woodstock and Cartersville?
Posted on 7/24/17 at 9:19 pm to 4cubbies
Don't worry, Mitch's great and steady leadership will soon turn New Orleans into a murderless utopia. Step #1 was getting rid of those statues. Step #2 is Mitch going out and touting himself as at 21st Century civil rights icon.

They're not the nearby suburbs to Atlanta that I was referring to, so not a huge uptick. My new home, five minutes to my in-laws house is fifteen minutes from Cartersville, on the border of Paulding and Cobb Counties, so I'm familiar with the area. The biggest problem in this area is pills. Lawrenceville has had a bit of a spike in crime recently. Woodstock is still insulated from it for the most part.
I'm from Kentucky but I've always loved Atlanta and my wife is from here so you're not going to get a lot of shite talk from me. If we didn't have a toddler, we'd have bought a place in town.
I see what you're doing. I was generalizing but you know what I meant.

I have only passed through on a few occasions. On one occasion, as I approached a toll crossing (which I had never encountered). I was apparently in the wrong lane. Fellow motorists would not allow me to merge into the proper lane. A trucker nearly climbed out of his truck and began screaming "you stupid mother fricker", just about traumatizing my small children.
A 2nd occasion, as I was waiting on a traffic light, 4 young men crossed the street and stopped and began banging on the hood of my vehicle yelling "what up bitch?!!"
A third occasion I took an exit to re-fuel and asked a local for directions. He said "frick you", mumbled other profanities, and strolled off.
My anecdotal evidence is by no means 'the rule', but these situations occurred. There were two common denominators: I was a visitor in unfamiliar territory and the second, I will let any who read this guess.
I was not murdered though, so there is that.
