So many to list with friends and family but easily it was taking my late grandfather to a game in 2004.

My grandfather was a WW2 vet, first generation Cajun that learned english in his teens. Learned the language, went to war, and came back to the US after an extensive tour in the European theater to bust his arse until retirement.

One of the many hard labor jobs he held was working for a crew that rebuilt Tiger Stadium in the late 50s or early 60's. He had to live in the dorms while they did the work.

He had never been to a game in person despite doing this work and being a fan. When I worked for the AD, I was able to arrange a game against MSU in 2004 where I got him a special pass to park right by the Lawton Room because he had trouble walking (he was a few years away from being in a wheelchair).

Took him on a tour of the Lawton Room, then the Locker Rooms, then on the field for pregame and part of the first quarter. Then we sat in our seats on the 50yl for the remainder of the game. His oldest son (my parrain) came as well. I watched my grandfather tear up during pregame, national anthem, and of course, kickoff. What a day.

He passed away last year. Till the day he passed, he kept his name tag from that day in his home or in his room at his retirement home to where it could be seen. "Special Guest of LSU Football .....XXXXX" as well as the program I gave him from that day with the ticket stub. Sigh.

RIP Paw
