re: Health insurance rates set to soar for some in Louisiana

Why?
- people are not forced to purchase HI anymore. Health people exit leaving leaving a pool of insured with much higher risk factors
- end of government subsidies which was an artificial price control.
Stupid Demos in Congress should have read the bill before passing it to understand all the risk.

With the outcome of those efforts in Congress uncertain and delayed up to two weeks, insurers are factoring in proposed changes that they say are inflating what would be single-digit premium increases into double-digits for 2018.

"Keep in mind these numbers are preliminary based on what the new health care law is going to look like. Had it not been for not enforcing the mandate or the possibility of cost-share reductions not being paid by the government, we would have seen normal trends of 7 percent to 10 percent increases," Justice said. "However we have had to prepare ourselves for the uncertainty in the market."
This article is not making the case many think it is making.

Dem-progs yesterday: "insurance companies just used the ACA as an excuse to jack up premiums! Don't blame the ACA for greedy insurance companies!!!!"
Dem-progs today: "it's all Trump's fault that rates are going up!"

Allowing high risk users to game the system doesn't lower costs.
Staying alive isn't gaming the system.

You should go spend 2 years in prison because tomorrow you could be a criminal.

Exorbitant End of life care at taxpayer expense is gaming the system.
Type 2 diabetes and AiDS and expecting full healthcare at others' expense, is gaming the system.

I pay for police and fire departments, but I've never had my house broken into, nor has it burned to the ground.
Why am I paying for those things that I never use?

I agree - we tried to address that, but one party decided shouting 'death panels' was a winning strategy.

Can you please provide a full list of diseases that you believe those suffering from do not deserve adequate health care unless they are rich?
I'll start for you:
Type-2 diabetes
HIV

Preventive care for an American diverse populace has been academically proven to be more costly than treating it as it pops up.

You left out the part about government expense and control.
No disease deserves treatment at taxpayer expense. Your list will be easier that way.

Link?
And costly how? What about other outcomes - quality of life, life expectancy, etc? What's the specific hazard ratio of preventative care vs 'treating it as it pops up'?

There are a number of third-world countries you can move to that will fulfill this insane dream for you.
Thankfully, the USA is better than that.
