re: Skip Bayless, other FS1 'opinionists' under pressure to debate sports that air on network

That's the thing though in my opinion a lot of people are more interested in a superstar than the sport. People watched golf because they wanted to watch tiger woods. People want to watch lebron james. There's nobody in baseball that has garnered that type of attention since Jeter or bonds.
Sports are all about the characters. A sport can be based on an intrinsic high level of competition but the general public doesn't care if it doesn't have compelling characters.

I watch the majority of the Pelicans games on Fox Sports New Orleans. So why does the NBA off limits.

The nfl and NBA are by far the most popular sports in America and most people would rather listen to what lebron ate today than what's happening the middle of the year in baseball.
well Fox has a vested interest in promoting the sports that they air. Not talking about them on their regular shows does not help that cause

TO be fair, they also ignore some of the sports that they have exclusive right to. I.e., they seldom talk about SEC baseball or NCAA baseball until the CWS semifinals.
ESPN doesn't but the SEC Network does, a lot, the channel that broadcasts most of their games.

Make the point.
The point was inherently implied. "Americas favorite pastime" is clearly no longer. The question is was it even then or was it just the most accessible?
It's now grouped into the "UFC, NASCAR, and International Soccer League" popularity.

All of that because they said they need to promote those sports more on their debate shows, and happened to include them in the same sentence?

Baseball was king because there wasn't much else for people to do or watch/listen. My grandfather would always relax by listening to baseball games on the radio. Today we have an assortment of things to do to pass the time.

Lol MLB is a lot more popular than those sports. MLB and NBA are pretty even in popularity.

i honestly pity the people that sit around watching these shows.

and sec network is probably one of the more successful things espn has going right now.

Nope. They were in the same sentence together; therefore, equal popularity.

Included them in the same sentence, so that means they are equal in popularity. Quite the leap of logic there.

I didnt say baseball is equal to UFC and the others now did I? Hypocritical much? If anything, that grouping merely suggests that those sports are lower tier to football and basketball and any further ranking doesn't have to be necessary.
Now you did say baseball "just so happened to be" in the same list of sports as UFC, NASCAR and International Soccer like there was no inherent reason for listing baseball with the group in the article. Unless, you think a ten year old wrote this article, you're quite gullible given the intention of the article was to paint a picture of the FS1 network pressuring their opinionists to talk more about baseball and the other less popular sports that the show airs. Surely you can see why the author "just so happened" to not include football and not baseball in the same group?

i still cant figure out who the hell actually watches these shows..

There would be no fuss. You would just be talking about something that most people don't feel as strongly about. Skip is not influencing casual fans like that
Posted on 7/13/17 at 8:43 pm to RedRifle
They suck at the sports they debate. Might as well change the sports they debate. Can't be any worse.

This is why I could see Tim Tebow catching on at the big league level. Even if he doesnt hit his body weight

As a NASCAR fan I would really prefer if the trolls and/or morons and/or hot take brigade didn't talk about my sport
Even if they legit tried to discuss it (they wouldn't) they'd be ignorant about it and they'd just end up pissing me off
