2011 team was easily more talented than 2006.
I'd say 2006's offense gives that team the overall edge against 2011. 2011's defense vs 2006's offense is a wash, but it's hard to argue that 2011's offense would compare with 2006's defense, which was still very solid. The 2011 team put lots of points on the board, but a lot of that was due to the defense putting them in excellent field position.
Anyways, that 2006 Florida game is definitely in the top 3 most frustrating games to watch. I don't think I've ever seen a college team make so many critical errors in one game. IIRC, LSU's miscues included:
-Fumbling at UF's 1-yard line
-Fumbling a kickoff return
-Fumbling a punt return
-Allowing UF to block a punt
I'm sure I'm missing a couple more...
The incredible thing is - considering UF was the eventual national champion - that they still only lost that game by 13 points. Had the situations been reversed, and it was UF making all those costly mistakes, LSU would've won in a 42-14 blowout.

I'm talking about actual talent on the team. 2011 wins that going away. Just look at who moved on to the NFL from each team.

You missed the main f**k up in that game. Anybody remember the few plays before Russell fumbled on the 1 yd line where Hester clearly crossed the goalline to score that would have put LSU up 14-0 and in complete control?. They reviewed the play over and over and it clearly showed Hester to be in the endzone but of course the refs pulled another Auburn and said he was down at the 1.
