Have a relative who lives in Plano and commutes to downtown Dallas for work. The obvious biggest drawback is the drive to work. Other than that Plano is much less hectic and has everything you need.

grew up in Plano, I remember when Custer Rd was gravel North of Renner
Collin Creek Mall was cow pasture
I75 was a 4 lane suicidal thrill ride with entrance and exit ramps as short my Johnson
I could go on and on
then some guy named Perot moved his company out to Plano, anyway, Plano 's cool, better than downtown
