Going to Texas with wife and 6 year old and 6 month old, Houston (Astro game) one day Waco (fixer upper wife) one day, Austin one day, New braunfels (schlitterbahn) one day, San Antonio (Alamo) one day, Wimberly (Jacob well, Hamilton pool) four days with friends and other kids, back to San Antonio for fiesta Texas then home. Any ideas on other things to do or cities in between we should stop to visit?

I went to San Antonio a few weeks ago for work. Good little city. Alamo will take 1-2 hours and then walk down a few blocks, 5 min walk, and check out the river walk. Find a restaurant along the river walk to eat at.

Skip Waco, if you can.
Maybe drive out to Enchanted Rock?
The Alamo is really no big deal. If you really want to see what the Missions were like go to San Jose and Espada on the south side of SA! Those are cool. Eat at Jacala or El Mirador in SA. Good local joints off the Riverwalk.

Natural Bridge Caverns is pretty cool for a few hours. Between SA and New Braunfels.
If your wife likes to shop, San Marcos is outlet mall heaven.
From Wimberly, about an hour west is the LBJ Ranch / State Park. Really cool if you like historical stuff.
Just a tad further west is Luckenbach Texas, and then Fredericksburg, which has a cool WWII museum and some great German food.
Also that whole area is part of the Texas Wine Country, so there are all sorts of little wineries out there.
If you are going to go to Waco, go a bit further north to West, which is home of the Czech Stop, an amazing bakery with the best kolaches in the state.
Finally, if your wife will let you, hit up the Shiner brewery.

So 10 days total?
I'd skip Waco if you can...tell your wife to shop online because Joanna hardly goes to the Magnolia store.
Plus it's fricking Waco....strangest town in Texas.
I'd add a day to Austin in lieu of Waco, or head to Fredericksburg.
Take the kids out to Treaty Oak, let them play corn hole and run around, you can enjoy a drink or two.

I'm pretty sure you have to make reservations for Hamilton pool now, and it's already been closed a few times this season due to high levels of harmful bacteria in the water. It's gorgeous, though.
