Quick Vacation Recommendations?

I need a recommendation for a quick vacation for the GF and myself. We are in our early thirties and would be leaving early August out of Nola for a 3 or 4 day weekend. Would like a nice combination of activities and dining if possible. Done Chicago. She's never been to NYC. Neither of us have done Charleston. Kinda of brain dead on options bc its last minute and work prevents both of us from vacationing frequently. Want to do more than just sit on a beach and drink beer on 30A. Any advice is appreciated.

We talking flying or driving?

Flying. Nashville did cross my mind. I hear it's pretty happening these days. Any interesting outdoor activities in those cities? The GF brought up Sedona AZ as an option but im worried it may be too hot in August.

I realize I'm being a homer, but 3-4 days is a good amount of time in Boston. And it's much cooler in New England than Arizona.

+1 on Boston, and here's a vote for Portland, ME. Eat your fill of lobster rolls, ride the mail boat/ferry, enjoy cooler weather & sea views, go shop at LL Bean....

New England is enticing as well. I think our ideal trip would be somewhere where we could do some light outdoor activities and see some nature and maybe get in a water body or pool. Maybe relax a little in the afternoon. She would probably enjoy a little spa time. A nice dinner or two would be a bonus. Really appreciate all of the suggestions. We have the budget to travel just not a work schedule that makes it easy for us.

Sounds like Austin would be a good spot, but it's damned hot in August...

In that case, Aspen, CO
Or Napa. Go eat at French Laundry. It's outstanding.

Nashville. A huge list of really cool things to do in a very small area of town. From my own personal experience and discussions with friends, planning a return trip to Nashville usually happens a day or two before anybody leaves for home during the first trip.

I agree with Boston too. So much history. I spent a long weekend there a couple years ago and walked 26 miles. You can go to Martha's vineyards or another water area while you are there to satisfy your water request.
The one drawback is it is pricier than other recommendations, but will be so much cooler.
I want to go to Charleston too, but it will also be hot and humid in August.

Denver and Boulder, Colorado. Including Rocky Mountain National Park.
Montreal. Too short to include Quebec City though, which is a shame.
Yes on Charleston.

I actually did Denver/Red Rocks with the bros the other weekend. Great trip but we didn't get to do any outdoor activities since we were focused on partying and music. Would love to go back. She nixed Aspen since she will be going to wedding there soon that I can't attend.
How is Lake Tahoe this time of year? The pics of the water/mountain combo looks awesome. I really want to get in that water. Also looks like reasonable flights and only an hour from the airport.
Thanks for the recommendations and I promise I will learn to post pics when we return.

So in addition to the trip I'm taking with the GF in August, my Father and Sister have decided last minute to go to the Cape Cod area this weekend. I'm gonna join them but none of us have been there before nor know anything about the area. Talk as of now is to stay in Hyannis Port and do a day on Martha's Vineyard and a day on Nantucket. They will have a third day there but I won't. Any tips, ideas, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would start a new thread about the new request. Might get more interest and catch the eye of someone who's been to that area recently
