i think you can defend the Hill signing with the roster and vision they seemed to have in mind last season.

if you have Davis playing a good chunk at the 5, Hill playing up at the 4 often makes some more sense and can approach his annual $$

if you have Davis at the 4 for half the game, Ennis makes more sense and Hill at the 3 more frequently is a bad bad bad contract.

the question would then be- they seemingly knew Davis would not be happy playing the 5 as much as he did, so why spend big on Hill?

I'd like to say they hoped AD would get over it, but then why sign Asik for so long?

I'm 100% sure now that Dell has this infatuation with certain players and he expects the coach to "make it work".

We've seen it with Monty and a bunch of offensive players.
We've seen it with Gentry and a bunch of defensive players.

He goes for players he likes, not what the system dictates.
