I checked the manual before I bought this battery to make sure I was getting the right one.
Are Cradtsman lawn tractors decent quality? Serious question.

I've had one for 11 years and it's decent. I got it because some jackass returned it because it wouldn't start after he bought it, but the only problem was the battery. My friend ran the local sears store and sold it to me for cheap since he couldn't sell it as new. Anyway, about 4 years in the engine blew up. Come to find out some Briggs & Straton engines are made on the cheap in china. I replaced it with a good motor and it's ran fine since. All in all, for the $500 I've got in it, I've been pleased. I'd rather have a zero-turn, but when this engine dies I'll purchase one.

They are all made by somebody else. For years the smaller and medium sized ones were made by Murray. The larger ones have been made by Husqvarna.

To the OP: What model number, Horsepower and engine type? It may be corrosion on the magneto contacts.

Try jumping it to get it running, then while running pull the positive battery post. If it dies it is not charging.
