"Ran" the Leadville marathon 5 years ago. There's just no way to train your body for running at 10,000+ feet when you live at sea level. The ascent from the start to the halfway point at the top of Mosquito Pass (13.1 miles) took me 3:25, which was 2 minutes slower than what I ran the entire Louisiana Marathon in a few months before. Then I got to the top, and the aid station was out of liquids. Finished the whole thing in just over 6:30 and I was wiped.

Initially confused this with the Barkley Marathons. Leadville is obviously still a huge accomplishment, but at first I thought you were an insane person.
