I don't want to begin to contemplate the levels of gubment that would have to be added so that
An additional twist comes for the guys who figured that bankruptcy would erase all their problems. You know, the ones whose frowns were a heck of a lot more than smiles turned upside down, when the bankruptcy courts told them that their student loans remained. Period.

Is a fair question/concern. However, could have simply posted the results of their report/findings on their website and notified students of its availability
Bankruptcy, no thank you
P.S. have wondered if the loan forgiveness, in part, was in response to not being upfront with students???

You borrowed money and have to actually pay back the loan?

I can't believe that most of you didn't see thorough Obama's ruse. If he could get every American kid a 'free' college education, where do you think the minimum wage, or entry level workers come from?

You're correct. She should just tell them to pay their debts.
If students entered the program that should be considered an agreement. Would you want someone going back on your agreement?
If the government can't uphold their end of the agreement then why should the student uphold theirs to pay it back?

Finished with 130k. Have whittled it down to 80k the past few years. Really accelerating the payoff now. If I just paid the minimums it would take over 20 more years to pay off. Instead I am.just hunkering down and trying to get rid of them in the next 3 years.
Good for you. Private or public university? What's your degree in?

You borrowed it, you pay back. There's plenty of info on the internet dating back years warning of scams like ITT Tech, DeVry, etc. If a school broadcasts commercials on national TV, they tend to be for profit scams.
Betsy DeVos (a MILF for sure) is totally justified in making them back this money back. I had people talking shite to me because I opted to get my BA at LSU instead of Tulane. Whose laughing now when I finished debt free :)

"This is the Trump administration stepping on a bunch of people who have already been stepped on many times before," Pochahantas said in an interview. "Students who were cheated by predatory for-profit schools should not have to wait another day to get their loans canceled."
So maybe the Obama DOE should have barred those predatory schools from being in the student loan program.

This woman has no clue how to handle this.
It looks like she will still honor many of the forgiveness applications to this point but will reformulate those going forward. Sounds more than fair to me.
