I have no problem with taking these 3 stars in December or January but in June?! Come on man!

You know what they say - A three star in June is a 4 Star in January.

The recruiting services absolutely bump guys with offers to several major schools. Almost everyone of our commits fits that description right now. The rankings are fluid.

We make decisions when they don't. No more playing around, on the train or off.

Take another from north LA or the Florida kids. We have DB's after us. Also still in it for the DT in Mizzou.

Again,it is June. A large number of the top athletes wait until after they see how the teams play the season of their commitment. Especially in our case with a new HC in his first full season and a new OC. Its a little foolish to think that these top notch athletes are going to sign away the next 3 to 5 years of their lives before seeing how we're going to look on offense. What's gonna happen (and I think it will) when Canada's offense is a success and the top recruits want in but we have no more room?

I like the running backs.

Congrats AJ.

My concern is with the overall numbers compared to the needs that we still have in the roster.

People will be asked to greyshirt or will mutually go different ways if we get a higher ranked committment.

Is this the first year you guys follow recruiting? This is what the Sabans of the world have been doing to their lesser recruits for years.

I don't care who the players names are; I just don't think we need 4 rb in this class when we have other needs.

See my other posts regarding needs.

I don't know what the LSU coaching staff considers their main needs to be or how they have their big board set up so I will just watch as a fan.

Go LSU

Followed recruiting for almost 5 years. I know how it works and what we can and can't do. We can take the backs and just might. We will also get other prospects we need and have room.

I assure you that if the best of the best start wanting in after seeing our team during the season room will become available. You just tell the kid that we can give you a gray shirt but as of now we don't have room, or you stop recruiting them and they naturally decommit. They will have other schools to choose from if big time recruits start knocking. You deal with that when the time comes but you can't count on it not in a year like this IMO. LSU will do what it's got to do. You won't piss them off if you keep it business like and not make things personal. O's job is to do what's best for LSU and you can tell coaches, parents and players this same message. You put it like that they have no choice but to accept it.

Another thing is Les would make a commitment like a marriage, it was more personal which is fine and can work but it also makes it hard to give up on guys. We got the short end on many occasions and ended up with less and less depth which is what you really don't want to do IMO. There's so many ways you can make room, during the recruiting year and even after like if they just aren't panning out and you have another player coming in that's already performing better but at least you gave that guy a shot. You can go to JC or go after transferes that you know perform well to fill depth issues from guys that didn't work out. What you really don't want is to be short on guys and have to play boys that aren't ready for the SEC. This is LSU and when we start winning things will change but we just can't sit back hoping especially when your just starting your HC career at LSU. You do the best you can to get the best possible players anyway possible. I see that happening.

I love the volume of signing but I truly hope we do not screw over too many of these kids at the last second for higher rates guys. That could hurt us long term with high school coaches.

We typically sign around 8 to 10 3* guys every year. I don't see what the big deal is? Now I agree that they should probably slow down a bit to let our season gain traction first. If we have a big year and these OOS recruits start wanting in you need to have room. We have few spots left. I definitely trust our coaches though. I see cherry picked 3* guys performing at a high level around the country so I'm not too concerned. Evidence is in next years class where we already have a highly rated class but LA is loaded as well. You may see O and staff load up next year with some truly ELITE prospects. Add this previous class we just had and looks like a superb team to me. I think people should wait and see because these classes will surprise many IMO. GT
