When I took Spanish in high school my teacher said to watch Univision. They spoke so damn fast I couldn't pick up a single word, except may be "y".
If there are "slow read" podcasts, that would be an excellent idea.

The one I have is Slow German mit Annik Rubens.
I feel like I know enough German to participate in a conversation but my pronunciation is terrible so no one knows what I'm talking about.
It helps a ton to actually say it out loud but it's gonna be weird when people hear you saying "sechs einfache Fahrt bitte"
