I have a pit mix, and there can be 4 million articles about how they are bad and i certainly won't be listening to them.
And there lies the problem with you people. Just be honest, you don't care what other people think or how your actions affect their lives. You're inconsiderate and selfish.
quote:
I would trust my dog with little kids in the same bed. He has been around kids when I am away and the kids adore him and don't want him to come home with me.
Sure you would, but that's not your call if you aren't their parent. I bet you assume it's ok. Just like other's that have done so with the wrong outcome.
quote:
I know there are bad ones, but there are good ones as well.
Sure there are. But the good ones have all been euthanized after they went bad.
quote:
Oh yea and that jaw strength stuff has been debunked hundreds of times
Now you are really showing your stupidity. Just because some other dogs have as much or more jaw strength doesn't mean a pit doesn't have enough to seriously maim. But it's not just about jaw strength. Like I said before, I've seen them fight in the "pit". Anyone who has will attest to their potential to do serious harm. They lose it quick. It's in their breeding. Period.

but, but what if it decides to go crazy and kill your other dog?!?!?!?!
It hasn't yet or my wife's wiener dog. He did growl once at my Lab and I pretty firmly let him know that was not acceptable behavior. Pits at the end of day are dogs. Dogs are pack animals. if you assert yourself as the alpha over the dog, then you can pretty well control it's behavior. My biggest fear was I was not this dogs original owner and did not know any triggers to some secret aggressive behavior but I wouldn't let anyone around this dog until I felt comfortable with him being ok and then, we have rules.

Would you leave a loaded gun in the kennel with your lab? Well, would you?
I would, a lab wouldn't be able to pull the trigger

Don't take this the wrong way, but if anything ever happens, I hope you're prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for putting the kids in that position. You're the adult, it's your job to have brains enough to understand the risk.
I would absolutely take that challenge. The dog is a lab/pit mix and acts like a lab. He's a lab with a pitt face and a lab body

I was being sarcastic. I have a 85lb lab/sharpei mix who gets along great with friends' pits.

I'm showing my stupidity by replying to someone who said they had the strongest bite and refuting that and being right? I didn't say anything about it not being strong enough, I just refuted him for having bad facts.

Pit Bulls are the AR-15 of the dog world.

Wolf mixes will do the same thing.

Sure, if an AR-15 was capable of selecting a target and pulling it's own trigger.

I'm not to shabby a dog trainer. Trained several Labs to hunt titles so I know a thing or 2 about training dogs. It's all about controlling behavior and letting the dog know who is boss. You reward aggressive behavior and you get a dog that maims kids in a car seat. I actually think my dogs, including this one, mind better than most people so that statement might work for the rest of pit owners but not this one.

Makes for awesome security cause the only way you are getting to my backdoor is through him.
Dogs are impulsive. They are as intelligent as 2-3 year old children and should never be trusted or encouraged to provide "security." If your dog gets too territorial it might bite a Girl Scout trying to sell you cookies.
If our dog gets nervous about people walking into or by our house, we discourage that behavior. He is a pet, not a "don't trespass" sign.
