Houston residents, do any of you know the availability of accounting-type jobs in Houston?

Probably one of the best markets to be in for accounting. Depends if you want to work public or private and if you have your CPA

Are you asking for a job or if there are jobs. Yes, there are accounting jobs in Houston. There are accounting jobs virtually everywhere for that matter.

Wife is big 4.....the jobs are there.
Public or industry remains the question. Industry is more predictable whereas public will work you like a stressed out mule.

I guess the more prudent question would have been if the companies frown upon relocation. Or maybe my resume isn't what I think it is, quality-wise.
Wife and I would like to move to Houston, and are attempting to procure jobs before we make the move.

yes, just lie and say you already live in Houston on applications. Most recruiters toss out of town resumes in the trash

In that case, just go ahead and apply to anything that looks appealing. Go through interview process as normal, but make sure you tell them you are looking to move and not there yet. Just have a good story. Tell them your wife has an opportunity she can't pass up and your move is imminent. Good luck, I think you will be fine
