My dad is 65. My mom is not. He worked over 40 years in manufacturing and had great insurance. Now that he is retired and is 65 my mom will not be on his insurance.
It's not about planning or the type of insurance. It is about premiums that are charged to people between 59 and 65. My dad has been paying into SSN since he was 13. My mom has been working with the church unpaid for well over 30 years.
For the next few years she would not be covered under ACHA with affordable premiums.
When people look at planning or polical views it's not about the tax payers. Everyone's situation is different.
We have always taken care of our older generations. The biggest reasons we have take care of them in the past it is because they have taken care of us and it is the right thing to do.
Many of us complain about Millenials and one of the reasons is them being selfish. We are better as a nation by taking care of every citizen.

quote:Exactly. Medical care is a personal good not a public good.
Everyone's situation is different.
quote:Absolutely. But many people don't want to take care of others. They want to dump that responsibility off onto the government to do it for them.

It's always surprising to me that people think generosity and caring is voting to spend other people's money. It is no such thing.

The same could be said about ObamaCare, though. We don't know if premiums will be higher or lower under ACHA. Nobody knows. We do know that premiums are skyrocketing under ObamaCare.

I agree 100%. But nobody was being taken care of before...I'm not sure how things will change at all under a new Health Care bill. I mean, we don't really know. The whole stink being put up by the Dems is that nobody knows.
