Making a quick midweek trip up to B'Ham area. Only staying 1 night...2 tops. Willing to stay anywhere in 50 mile radius or so.
Not picky at all. Just looking for a good balance of affordable vs not getting shot. Wanted to see who knew the area well before I hit up expedia, travelocity & all those sites.
Thanks!

Aloft in Homewood is a good bet. Nice area not too bad on price.

Way too vague a question. Totally depends on where you need to be in Birmingham, as traffic can be a bitch.

Yeah what the hell is wrong with that,I got caught in that last week on my way to florida. Didn't know Birmingham could pack such a punch

Kind of depends really on what part of Birmingham you're going to be in.
Downtown area the Hilton is ok. Winfrey at the Galleria if you're down that way. Mountain Brook Double tree is nice and located pretty well to go pretty much anywhere in B'ham

Aloft in Homewood
Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook (pretty nice area with some good restaurants and bars. It has a rooftop bar which is nice this time of year.)
Renaissance Hotel at Ross Bridge is nice if you like golfing. It's on a really nice golf course.

The Bham area is pretty spread out, so it would depend on what area of town whatever is bringing you to town is in. There's a new Westin downtown that's decent. I like the Tutwiler(Hampton Inn branded) downtown though for its history. Fairly close to several bars and restaurants, some walking distance, some a short Uber.
As mentioned, Aloft in Homewood and Grand Bohemian in Mt Brook are solid options as well. Both are also close(walking distance) to bars and restaurants.
Suburbs are strip mall, chain restaurant city. Ross Bridge(Rennaissance property) is really nice, but it is pretty far out.

Agreed that more info would be helpful.
Downtown- Redmont, Tutwiler or the Westin.
Homewood - Embassy Suites and Courtyard are decent and pretty cheap. Not as big a fan of Aloft as some on here but it is pretty new and convenient to downtown Homewood.
Mt Brook - Grand Bohemian is very nice and usually very expensive.
Hoover - Ross Bridge. Out there but great pool if you have kids w you.
Several courtyards, etc if looking for something cheaper. Stay away from Lakeshore by Walmart, hotels off of greensprings, and probably most anything north of 20/59.
