that is inexcusable from a production standpoint unless the director for some reason wanted to cross time periods for affect (like modern music in a period piece film)
The propmaster on that show is very experienced as is the production designer, so i tend think it was a creative device. A poorly conceived one at that

Jada Pinkett Smith tweeted about it too, saying her and Pac's relationship was nothing like what was portrayed in the film. The director tried saving face by saying it was a moment that "Tupac had always wanted to share" or some bullshite. Regardless, she hated it.
