Fact is, Walker would have been perfect against FSU (as the lead the nation in walks)

Will be very curious to see how disciplined they are against Lange's curveball in the dirt or off the plate. He gets lots of swings and misses on that pitch, which often is NOT a strike.

They're very patient at that plate. I think they are near the tops in the nation in walks drawn.

Well that's just it though. When a pitcher is starting the ball off in the same spot but it is either a fastball, or a curve that either breaks a little or a lot in the dirt, being "patient" at the plate isn't really something that comes into play with two strikes. That's where the strike outs happen when they swing at balls in the dirt.

This is pretty basic baseball knowledge.

When teams do this why not have Lange throw it for strikes because it's almost impossible to know where that ball will land. They would have to give up on the curve completely or at least most of the team would of that is the strategy for the opposing team. So if they choose not to swing at the curve, start throwing it for strikes regularly. They would then have to change the approach. Once they change the approach then start throwing it in the dirt.
