Anyone ever play in a pro-am?

What tour?
Who was your pro?
Were they good individuals or did they big-league you?
What course?
How did you shoot?
I've never had the chance to play in one but if I want to go in on a sponsorship I have the chance to do one next year for the Adams stop in Lafayette.

Played in a Pro-am when the Hooters Tour played at Calvert Crossing sometime around 2001. The pro was very quiet and had no real interest in helping our team. He was laying up off the tee for placement instead of trying to help us score. I get that if it was his only day to play a practice round, but he said he had already played the course twice prior to the Pro-am.
When we made the turn there were some other friendly pros hanging around the putting green and they asked how we were doing when one of my buddies informed them that we were playing an "Am-Am instead of a Pro-Am" to which one of them laughed and said that we definitely got a Pro that takes it seriously.
On a side note, Zach Johnson was part of the field that week.
Edited to add that most of the guys were pretty friendly and appreciative of any help the members had to offer. You should sign up for your pro-am and take your chances. We still had a good time!

my dads good buddy played in a pro am one time at English Turn with David Duval.
He said Duval said hi on the first tee and didn't say a word again until they shook hands on 18

Played in a charity scramble and Ryan Palmer rode around and played shot or two with each group. Ours was a wedge over water third into a par 5. I hit it closer. Heh heh.

Played in a hooters pro am back when I was in HS, Art Sellinger was there for a long drive display bombing it through phone books and etc. He ended up being our pro bc Charlie Rymer WD'd, he could kill his TM Burner Bubble but never hit the sweet spot of his TM blades, had a terrible short game as well

Wouldn't say it was a pro-am, but played with Frank Lickliter at Metairie CC in some Harrah's outing about 10 years ago. Nice guy, his caddie gave me some putting tips, very complimentary about the course and city. Fun facts, on #2 the pin was up and he hit the stick and spun it back into the water, and on #4 he was pin high left after his tee shot and chunked a chip shot. Was sporting those wraparound Oakley's the whole time, right on brand.

I played in the Zurich monday pro-am two years ago. Our pro was aussie Scott Gardiner, who didn't have much success on the tour, but was a really good guy.
We started on the 17th hole at TPC, and he aced it. He and his caddie were great to us all day, and we ended up 2nd place.

I've never played in one but I attend a lot of tournaments. Hands down, the Champions Tour is where you want to play in a Pro- Am. They pros are engaging and will chat the whole time. Even if you don't play, go out on Pro - Am day. They love to talk to anybody.
