You guys don't get it.
Releasing the guy's name will ensure that the public will know as much about him as possible as quickly as possible. Social media postings, organizations he belongs to, where he works, comments from neighbors, etc.
How much would we know about Reality Winner right now if the name hadn't been released?
Do you want to be able to make an informed judgment about his motive, or do you just want to be spoon fed by authorities?

Who are you going to trust to describe the motive? We live in a time where individuals have to perform much of the investigation and information sharing.
