The 2004 Laker team was a ring chaser team.

Basically if anyone accepts a contract that isn't their max available value somewhere else that is basically collusion in your stance.

The only issue in the NBA is Curry got hurt and the NBA expanded the salary cap at exactly the right time that allowed the Warriors to sign a top 5 player in the league to a underpaid team.

The 2004 Laker team was a bigger favorite over Detroit than the 2007 Spurs were against Cleveland. Getting destroyed in 5 games by Detroit doesn't change the fact they were huge favorites.
