Anyone ever been? Will be there 4 days. More than likely staying in or near McMinnville. Anything can't miss in that area?

Of course you're going to do a wine tour. So my advice is to do this wine tour: Backcountry.
I did it a few years ago. Guy does door-to-door pickup and dropoff. He goes to smaller wineries that are family owned (like 7500 or fewer bottles/year) for the most part. He was just starting out when we did this tour, but at the time he only took one couple at a time unless they were OK with him taking on another (we went with one other random couple). Great experience.

went last April. We stayed at The Allison
Did a bunch of vineyards one day, then went to the pacific coast highway and drove down to Newport. We tried to go whale watching but the seas were just not having it that day.
The pacific coast highway is awesome to see(at least in that area)
One day we drove to Mt Rainer and snow skied.
We really didn't have a plan any day, just kind of winged it

It actually get's awesomer, if you go further south. Thor's Well, Heceta Beach, and Bandon. Bandon has the most beautiful stretch of beach I've seen.

August seems to be a drier month, so fingers crossed we get good weather. Heading down the 101 from Astoria South and then over to the Valley. Can't wait.

Place is awesome. David hill winery is a small scenic winery with a house at the top of the hill and picnic tables outside.
Cannon beach is a nice town. Also, Indian beach is a nice park to visit.

No worries. It's the driest and warmest month. From mid July to beginning of Sep you're good.
