Just want to point out that Bill Maher is a member of the Libertarian party, and is not a Democrat (he has made this point publicly several times), so not sure calling him a Leftist or Liberal really applies as he and even the official Libertarian web page says they are not liberals/leftist. I find his political views to be mixed liberal and conservative. He definitely does not have liberal views toward Muslims.

Bill Maher is a bleeding heart liberal. He admits as much. Even in his rant about Islam, he mentions liberals with the term "we." He has some non-liberal beliefs, but he is far from libertarian.

He's not a libertarian. He used to call himself one, but then he realized the only major thing he had in common with them was wanting to end the War on Drugs. He's what we call a Classical Liberal. It's too bad that Democrats as a whole made the term liberal into crybabies.
