That Miami team was loaded with talent and people knew it at the time, they would likely crush 10 Auburn.
In my entire existence, I have never once seen or heard anyone say 2010 Auburn could beat 2001 Miami. I don't think Miami would crush them, but I don't think Auburn would win.

As for the 2004 versus 2010 Auburn teams, it's debatable. 2004 had more quality players, but 2010 had the best overall player. 2010 played a much tougher schedule as well. It's a hard call.

th person I was replying to had Auburn #5 team behind 95 NU, 05 Tex and 04 and 05 USC, so I'm assuming he thinks 10 Auburn was better than 01 Miami.

But did 2010 really have a much tougher schedule? The SEC W was tougher sure, but the East was garbage. 10 beat 5 top 15 teams, Oregon, LSU, Bama, Arky, MSU. 04 had 5!top 16 wins, UGA, VT, Tenn (twice) and LSU (who finished 16 after Bowl loss on Hail Mary). 10 also played Clemson ooc who was decent by still better than the 04 ooc. Overall a better schedule but schedule isn't everything04 had a much better D. Newton is the X factor.

I think there are only a couple of teams on the list capable of crushing 2010 Auburn, and that would be on an off night.

But, that's not to say I think we're an elite team in 2010. We were an extremely resilient team with one of the most dominant and elite players ever in NCAA. I just can't really see anyone putting the hurt on that team.

However, and while I think that applies to a hypothetical 2010 AU vs 2004 AU game as well, I think 2004 AU is the better overall team. But I wouldn't be surprised to see 2010 eek out a win.
