Wait, so is your friend of a friend still there, or not?

If he is still there, I'd call him and let him know point-blank, "look, you convinced me to give you guys a try. I brought my boat in and you charged me for service on everything I requested. But you didn't fix everything you charged me for. I'm giving you this opportunity to make it right."

There is nothing wrong for asking a business to make it right. But if you don't ask them, and they take the opportunity to bill you again, the mistake is on you. (I'm not advocating that they should bill you again, I'm just saying that until you put them on notice of their error, they're going to always grab for extra money.)
