I like how he doesn't mention a single shred of detail about how the AHCA improves things.
Though he did falsely infer that the reason all 23 million people will go uninsured is due to choice. That was cute.
When you stop forcing people, under the threat of imprisonment, to purchase health insurance you will naturally have less people purchasing health insurance.
Why do you think Obamacare went all the way to the Supreme Court to preserve the individual mandate even as the vast majority of Americans opposed it?

bullshite. It was a shitty bill. Washington didn't conceive that a state wouldn't accept expanded Medicaid. That wasn't some nebulous section of the bill.

You can't be imprisoned for not buying health insurance. Just given a tax penalty.
The point was about the misleading assertion by the OP's author.
The overwhelming majority of people that will lose coverage will not be because they just chose not to carry insurance they can otherwise afford.

You are just factually wrong here.

The law as passed was constructed to give every state 100% federal funds to expand their Medicaid program under the uniform ACA framework, then 90% after three years. Up from the 57% federal funding and non-uniform arrangement prior. The Supreme Court basically ruled states didn't have to accept it.

My company doesn't even offer a plan below $1000 deductible.
4 years ago I had a $250 deductible and paid half of what I pay now.

The dumpster fire known as ObamaCare just keeps burning hotter. The Department of Health and Human Services released a report this week on the laughably named “Affordable” Care Act and, in what should come as a surprise to no one, it showed that the average cost of individual health care plans has doubled since 2013. That year, the average month premium was $224, but by 2017 it was $476.
But But BUT, it is affordable to those that are getting it completely paid for other tax payers.

Because as the law was constructed, they had to accept it or lose all Medicaid funding. That wasn't going to fly. The DC Elite just couldn't conceive anyone would challenge them on it.

Yeah. I basically have a catastrophic plan with an HSA for basic expenses. I'm covering the first $6000 of mine and my daughter's expenses.

Try not paying your taxes.
Of course if you have nothing for the Government to take from you, then I guess you will turn out OK

What happens when you don't pay your taxes? Hint: Jail.

And then what? Ask the stats that did accept it how much more they're having to pay now, how much more it's looking like they'll have to pay in the future and how much they're getting covered. Hint: Suckers took the easy cash upfront and they're now getting burned.

The law specifically states that failure to pay the mandate can not result in criminal charges, liens or levies.

90% funding is indefinite.

That's good news for all the states with budget surpluses and money to burn.

Then the law is NOT enforceable.

Hate to break it to you, but higher deductibles have been a trend pre-dating the ACA. As a way to put more of the burden onto employees, reduce consumption, and save money.
The AHCA does nothing to really reverse this trend. In fact, it could in all likelihood make coverage worse for many people. The CBO expects that 1 million of the people that lose insurance will come from the employer market. It also opens the doorway for companies to chose the regulatory lowest common denominator state they operate in to base their company wide polices off of. Meaning if they pick a state that eliminates benefit requirements and other things, people could see their coverage dropped, scope of benefits reduced, and the return of yearly and life-time spending caps. In some case that may result in lower premiums, but only because it is being made up for in a narrower scope of coverage benefits, spending caps and higher out of pocket expenses.

Its better for anyone. Last i checked 90% > 57%.

One of the criticisms from actual policy people outside of Washington was how weak the mandate was.
Same criticism that falls on this AHCA bill.

So the ACA didn't bend the cost curve on deductibles. Shocking.
A defense of the ACA always reverts to "It was bad before. What do you want?"
