Best putting tip you've ever received?

Really struggling with my putter right now. Like 3 putting from 8-10ft out struggles. It's frustrating because everything else in my bag is on point. Struggling mostly with speed and touch. Either I slam it way past the hole or barely make it halfway to the hole. Just feeling extremely uncomfortable over the Putter. Any tips will help.

Change your grip. If you normally put RH over LH switch to LH over RH. Some pros do this for short putts only.

Take 3 practice strokes while looking at the hole. Should really help your speed issues.

Swing should resemble the swinging thing on a grandfather clock. Pendulum

You pull this kind of move in my group and you will get removed from the group. My group want to play 18 holes in 3:30 minutes.

How long does 3 practice putting strokes take? 5 seconds?
I like playing fast, but never at the expense of leaving strokes on the course. I've never understood the people who think the only thing that matters is how fast you can finish.

I'm with you. I don't understand the race to get off the course, but many people are that way. So much so that I feel guilty for taking one practice stroke.

But 5 guys marking their balls inside of 2 feet adds like 5 minutes per hole.

Inconsistency especially on shorter putts like you describe may well be due to decelerating at impact because of too much backswing
Shorten the backstroke and accelerate into the back of the ball
Think Brandt Snedeker !
TIP:
Pretend there is a thumbtack barely stuck in the back of the ball at the impact point.
Drive the tack into the ball.

My club(s) don't allow 5somes. Maybe point the finger elsewhere.

Nothing pisses me off more than someone kicking a 2ft putt back to me because it took them 5-6 strokes to get to the green and they think it's time to move on. Time on the green is important. Hacking away, looking for balls, and taking practice swings trying to get there needs to be hurried up.

From the time you address the ball with the face of the putter, you should pull it back to roll it in less than 8 seconds.
If ya take longer than that, back off and set back up.

I always take a practice swing. I have to get the feel right where the bottom of the club gets the ground just right. Something I've picked up playing a course where even in the fairway the ball could be really above or below my feet.

2x4 drill. Take an 8 foot one and start putting down one. After you're making it consistently, move it over an inch and put tees down every foot, then remove the board.
Every 10 putts remove a few till there are none left. Putt 50 more.
By end of it not only is your stroke better, you're seeing the line you want to hit the ball on.

I started doing the thing where you look at the hole and not the ball. It's very awkward at first. But what a difference it made for me.

I've made the couple putts looking at the whole. Far from comfortable.

Try practicing using a ball as your target.
Forward press could straighten your path.
I usually practice green speed. If you hit it too far past the hole you better make the next one.
