Gifted and talented programs are being cut left and right meanwhile we spend inordinate amounts of money on kids that will never be productive in society. It sucks to say, but it is true.

It's making economic decisions based of emotion. Yes , of course I feel sorry for this child. And I have no problem with the money coming out of the school budget to make sure this child has the best care that is the most help to the parents as possible. But everyone should agree that spending 10% of the school's budget on one child isn't fair to other 1,569 students in that school district.

Now this only applies to a few really extreme cases, obviously. Most special needs kids are not this bad off, and just need some extra attention to help them get the most out of school, and that's another matter entirely.
