"essentially"
Then I guess you don't know what that word means. Last year Marte finished as the 5th best outfielder and 25th best player overall, per ESPN's player rater. Adam Eaton was 27th and 103rd. Players multiple tiers apart are not essentially the same player.

he's been drafted in 1st and 2nd rd since his 2015 season, and he's not that guy, power wise.
He went 29th in ESPN leagues last year and finished 25th while hitting 9 HRs.

And Billy Hamilton was the 15th best OF per ESPN player rater
Do you know how the player rater works?
Runs 1.08
HR -.59
RBI -.52
SB 7.20
AVG .06
He's a 7.23 player on ESPN player rater - 7.20 comes from SB
Marte
Runs 1.14
HR -.01
RBI .39
SB 5.73
AVG 2.41
He was a 9.67 player
Eaton
Runs 1.78
HR .47
RBI .8
SB 1.32
AVG 1.44
Eaton was a 5.97, not a net negative anywhere and contributed across the board. Balanced.
with Marte's enormous SB boost, he's 3.7 better than eaton ETA: I was looking at the wrong player earlier for Marte's final tally - point still stands
Digest the numbers - the player rater isn't telling you the whole story. Overvaluing steals is a fools game. The guy hasn't been drafted 1st and 2nd rd bc he steals bags, he's drafted there bc people are chasing 20 bombs
