That letter had more boom in it than a North Korean nuclear weapon.

The Bible says the Jews are God's chosen people.

Do you know why the Bible says they are the chosen people?

Because Jews wrote the Bible.

He would have no problem laying his hand on The Bible because he is Godless.

Not disagreeing with Charlie, but to the folks at home, if you want to guarantee that a politician doesn't pay attention to what you have to say, this is how you start your letter:

quote:

Sen. Schumer, I don't live in your constituency,

As soon as they read that, the letter goes into the Round File.

Schumer challenged to swear on a Bible as an act to ensure truthfulness...???

Ehhh, to some American's that really does mean something. Can't blame a MAN for actually having conviction, especially if he is true to it.

You, obviously don't understand it. And I'm relatively certain when, and if you read this, that you'll have an equally cute remark that is empty of any substance.

It's those little core belief's you lefties slowly erode from our culture that continue to create the current status quo.

Love Charlie Daniels music but there is not an ounce of conviction in him politically....he went from singing about doing drugs in the 70s to hanging drug dealers in the 80s...if his fans were to suddenly Islam he would write a song about how much better allah was than Jesus....

As far as the letter Schmuer is doing what his constituents sent him to Washnington to do....

Thats David Allen Coe and there is no comparison between the song writing prowess of Coe and Daniels....even with Coe's racists shite he is far and away a better songwriter and musician than Daniels....not that Daniels isn't very good himself but DAC gets very little credit for his really good shite due to his shite that will never ever be played on any radio station or even in most bars....

Seriously dude study and listen to Daniels music progression over the years...it is a timeline of political events....he reacts to an issue in a manner that is approved of by the core of his fanbase....there is nothing at all wrong with that but to pretend that there is anything at all in his political stands that is based on any other conviction than solidfying his fan base is simply silly....he has flip flopped as his fan base has since the 70's....again there is nothing wrong with that....I don't know much about rappers but I suspect they do the same thing...why wouldn't they? But to pretend a Rapper is voicing a political opinion based on convictions other than album sales would go over in this room like a turn in a punch bowl...but when Charlie Daniels does it all of a sudden it is because he actually believes the shite he says.

Ted Nugent is the same way although in my opinion never the musician that Daniels is to this day (does Nugent even tour at all anymore???). Hugnet's politics are all about staying relevant in some manner....there is no conviction there....

There is nothing wrong with any of that...a man has to do what a man has to do....but deluding ones self into thinking there is any basis for these kinds of stunts other than promoting ones self is silly....

It's called maturing. Musicians change based on their own growth and development unless it's a band like the Grateful Dead for instance.

You are just spouting off crap/lashing out because you didn't like the message. It's OK. Lots of that happens here. Just don't try to sell your opinion as fact. Unless you know the man personally, you are FOS.

I have actually met Charlie Daniels a couple of times...and he seems like a very nice person...I ain't friends with him by any stretch but he does seem like a down to earth kind of guy....just because his politics are diametrically opposed to mine doesn't mean anything to me...hell almost everyone I know is a right wing nut....I am a white, middle aged man from the south...how would I know any liberals???

And you have a valid point about maturing...as people get old and cranky their world view does change...as they realize their life ain't turning out like they planned they start casting about for reasons and usually they never take responsibility for their own actions but instead look for others to blame...I feel you my friend...

I am less of a friend to you than Charlie Daniels. You have no idea about who he is or isn't inside any more than he knows who the hell you are or aren't.

Stop pretending. Is that too much to ask?

When you do make friends with him and get to know him, I would suggest that you ask him to tell you all about his life and how he thinks it turned out for him.

The alternative is that you have some sort of ESP abilities and can read his mind.

There's something sinister about seeing you bent over the lectern in the Senate Chamber, your countenance resembling what I would imagine Edgar Allen Poe's would look like reciting one of his macabre tales of doom and gloom, as if there is not one drop of happiness in your life, forecasting a dismal future for America if anything President Trump proposes passes both houses, is signed and becomes law.

Charlie needs to play himself a sad song on the world's smallest fiddle.

And come on guys, you can defend it all you want, but asking Schumer to swear on the Holy Bible definitely makes Daniels sound all the more ignorant. I'm forced to conclude that he doesn't even know the word Tanakh.
