Overall, slavery is much better for a society than welfare. At least slaves contribute in some way. Welfare leeches are just a waste of resources.

Saying "vote for us and we'll give you stuff" doesn't really sound like control to me.
Then you don't understand reality. Once they get their free stuff, they can never vote for another party out of fear of losing their freebies. It's really not a hard concept to grasp.

Absolutely. It's a brilliant strategy for Leftist elites. Why the Leftist commoners would go for it is beyond me. I was raised to be self-sufficient and take pride in my work, though.

Minorities want more legal protections.
Everyone has the same legal protections. The law does not discriminate against race. If minorities want special laws, then it is because they feel they cannot compete in an open marketplace. Instead of improving themselves, they just want the government to give them a handout.
quote:
Poor people want... wait for it... more money.
But what they don't want is to work for it. They don't want to put in more hours or educate themselves. They want the government to take money from people that have educated themselves and work harder and give it to them. Personal accountability is not something that liberals want to promote.

Yes, it is true, democrats have, through programs such as food stamps and subsidized housing, replaced the slavery that existed prior to the emancipation proclamation with a modern day version of an equally bad institution....one where children are ripped from their mothers arms and sold to the highest bidder, where adults are bought and sold like cattle, a system where the master can have his way with the women he owns and if they complain they can legally be beaten.....a system where the decision to move across the street is punishable by death and even learning to read can be considered a capital offense.
Y'all do realize that more white people are dependent on social programs than minorities, right...and that the vast majority of recipients are minors and women, right? But of course subsidized housing and being bought and sold are the same thing mire or less.....

Identical. I always have found that argument to be disingenuous. The racists basically just deserted the Democrat Party for the Republican Party during the Sixties.
That is a myth
The South did not switch to Republicans until 1980. The change wasn't over race it was over religion.
The Democratic Party gave up any semblance of morality and lost the Bible Belt.

199 Democrats voted for the civil rights act compared to 163 Republicans. And of course it was signed into law by a Southern Democrat......Democrats passed the civil rights act.
More to the point progressives and moderates alike in both parties passed it....it was conservatives from the south who were against it...universally.....

false
Southern democrats. 11 yea. 92 nay
Here is politifact article that shows that the republican overwhelmingly supported the civil rights act

Myth
You could find parallels to both partys but the narrative of "Rs and Ds flipped ideologies" is a total lie to confuse and obfuscate

You are making my point for he my friend....there were 12 opportunities for Southern. Republicans to vote yes on the version signed into law...not a single one ever did........
On the other hand there were 103 chances for Southern. Democrats to vot yes on the Version that passed....11 of them did....while not great 10% of southern democrats voted yes while 0% of southern Republicans did....
There is also a significant difference between the % of Republipcans outside of the south who voted for the bill as passed, around 80%, compared to the % of Democrats outside the south who voted yes at almost 95%.
There wasn't much opposition to the bill but what opposition there was came from the south and even in the south some. Democrats supported the bill, including the president who signed it into law, while not a single Republican from the south did.
And even more telling is that the GOP nominee for president in 1964 did not support the civil rights act......
It took moderates and progressives from both parties to pass the civil rights act..a..had it been left up to our ancestors from the south it would have never passed although 10% of southern democrats supported the bill while 0% of southern republicans did

It is not control like a chain would be. But if you don't support the idea that wholesale 'free money' for anyone who is willing to live off the govt teat does not secure a huge voting bloc for the DEMs while saddling the rest of society (where most of the GOP reside) with huge costs = not only for the 'free money' but also for the cost of dealing with the crime exacerbated by a growing group with no self responsibility = then you are lying to yourself.
You know it and everyone knows you know it. The wholesale magnet of 'free money' saps the soul of vulnerable people - all for the sake of easy DEM dominance of those so entrapped. The DEMs have created their own plantation where they harvest votes instead of cotton. It is despicable what they have done to the vulnerable in this country.
IF people on welfare were not allowed to vote, you would see DEM 'sympathy' for them to vanish overnight - you know that.

While that sounds good for you and you get to attempt to spread your party BS, the fact remain that their were only 10 republican's in the south.
There were 95 democrats of which 87 opposed.
The civil rights act was passed because of Republicans inspite of the democrats.
It wasn't democrats who were registering blacks to vote. It wasn't democrats who were being lynched in Mississippi. It was democrats who passed Jim Crow laws.
The Democrats were the onse who were throwing bricks at blacks during the march from Selma to Montgomery. It was a Democrat who stood in the door at the University of Alabama to prevent black students from attending.
It was a democrat who turned the fire hoses and set attack dogs on the blacks in Birmingham.
Contrary to the propaganda that you racists democrats like to spread, your party has always been the racist party. Your party has never changed.
Your party was the party of the KKK. That was when the KKK totaled millions of members. Now you guys try to pin the KKK on republicans. We aren't buying it, especially since the KKK totals less than 3k members nationwide.
Now you call the conservatives racist while saying the blacks are too stupid to get a voter id.
You call conservatives racist while saying blacks are too stupid to compete fairly for jobs or educational opportunities etc etc.
Your parties policies are killing black americans. Your policies have caused the families of black americans to go from a less than 15% single parent homes before 1960 to 75% today. Your policies have caused Black Americans to go from less than 10% Highschool drop outs to 70+% today.
Don't even attempt to feed your bullshite to me. I lived through these times. I was there and have seen it all happen first hand.

You do know that was almost 150 years ago, right?
And, did you miss this part?
how that racism continues to this day in the form of social welfare programs.
Brand spanking new racism!

This is the great tragedy of the black culture. They have been seduced into a mindset of uselessness and irresponsibility by the DEM party. DEMs promise them they can "get even" with whitey if only they will vote as a monolithic bloc against any conservative. That is all DEMs want from them = unbridled voter loyalty.
Democrats are the blatant racists where it really counts. Believing that blacks are good for only one thing = unthinking obedience to the MAN. DEMs enjoy the misery and squalor they impose on black enclaves. It makes it easier to keep them riled up and demanding MORE.

Me too. I have lived to see three generations of blacks have their dreams aborted before they even had a chance to make decent lives for themselves and establish functional families living in decent neighborhoods. All so DEMS could get a free ride to power so they could undermine the rest of America.
