What do y'all think about this?

If it's well done quality remake/reboot with basically Maverick/ Cruise in a smaller Viper type roll id maybe be interested.

But Hollywood seems to have lost its magic with movies like this. I don't know of its lazy writing or acting or what but they just don't make movies like they used to.

Why can't they just make an original Fighter Pilot movie. Why does everything have to be tied to an old franchise via remake or sequel or whatever

Subconscious brand recognition. You aren't starting from square one in marketing the movie to the masses. It basically sells itself. It's all about the money in the entertainment business now and less about the quality or originality of the entertainment.

Yea I'd have to agree with gen. The last movie I can think of focused around jet fighters and pilots was Stealth.. and that movie wasn't too good at all. I love any kind of war or history movie. Always had a lot of interest in jet fighters since this movie.

Have the fighter pilots being passed over for drones and then make the story-line focus on them competing with drone capabilities on an important mission. I don't personally think fighter pilots are becoming obsolete, but it's not out of the question, to an extent, in the next 20-30 years.

Because the Hollywood studios don't want to take the financial risk of a new movie. They know that it is unoriginal, but it's the safest way to make a profit.

All of these reboots have a built in fan base. Also, there is no reason to invest a lot in writing a story. And they can borrow a lot of the script from the original.

Takes less time and money to produce, and they already know that people will go see it, even if it isn't amazing.
