I did the train in Skagway and really enjoyed it. However, my wife did the 8 hour bus tour that goes much deeper along the same route and into Canada, and based on her photos, I really missed out.
Either way u will see some beautiful scenery, but I'd definitely recommend the bus tour.

I rented a car out of Skagway and took the same route but much deeper, went all the up the Yukon Territory, beautiful drive.
