Well Clemson lost to Duke sooooo I'm pretty sure they are toast
They more than likely already were. Im not sure exactly how the ACC tourney works, but I know its pool play into tournament, so I would guess they still have a shot to win it. But yeah...the way they have been playing, they may not even host.

Yeah. LSU and UK have almost the same resume. LSU has a share of the SEC Title, but UK has a 2-1 record head-to-head with a chance to make it 3-1.
Personally, I think LSU is in. UK is probably battling Stanford at this point rather than LSU, along with a bias to not select 3 teams from the same conf. to be national seeds.
Baseball focuses their seeding on geography much more than basketball. I would imagine the committee would much rather have another West Coast top 8 seed (Stanford) for geographical purposes. That, and the fact that Stanford's long time coach is retiring may be the sentiment to give them the final national seed.
An LSU win tonight erases all doubt (unless UK ultimately goes on to win the SECT), but I think UK is going to get screwed here mainly because of location

I'd guess UK would have to win the SECT to get one.

I agree with you that UK should get in over Stanford. Don't believe USM should get in above Stanford though.
The reason I am keeping UK as the first team out right now is because of only having 1 West Coast team in, which I agree is a stupid reason.
Regarding USM....Stanford has about the same RPI and has a better SOS, so I think Stanford certainly has the edge (especially when you throw in the location).
If UK beats LSU tonight I think I will move them into that 8th spot and remove Stanford.
Stanford can either benefit from not having a tournament, but it could also really hurt them. UK goes on and wins the SEC, then they should get in above Stanford who will be hurt by not having a tournament and getting a shot to win, probably getting a win over Oregon State along the way. It could help them though, by UK losing out pretty soon, combined with USM losing in their conference tourney. Stanford should not have much trouble taking 2 of 3 this weekend.

I agree that LSU is almost locked in. The only situation that scares me is LSU losing to Kentucky tonight, then Kentucky going on to win the SEC Tournament, combined with a Stanford sweep.
If UK and Stanford get in then somebody is going to have to lose a spot. Who is the team most likely to get bumped??? Is it LSU or somebody else?? Only other possible option would be Texas Tech, who has a higher RPI than LSU but a much lower SOS. Hard to see either one of those teams getting bumped.

TCU's metrics are worse than LSU right now. Lower RPI, SOS and fewer top 50 wins.

You are correct. I seemed to overlook TCU. I have them in the "locked in" section, which is above Texas Tech. After looking at it, I don't think they should be.
So, I guess that gives you Tech, and TCU in the list with LSU who could potentially fall out with a UK and Stanford surge. Also should be noted that both TCU and Texas Tech has lost their first round Big 12 game.

Basically the only thing keeping LSU from being a lock right now is:
- Location of teams getting national seeds (may be a stupid reason, but it's a valid reason for concern)
- SEC getting 3 teams in. If the SEC gets 3 teams in then either the Pac 12 or Big 12 only get 1. Again, another stupid reason, if 3 SEC teams are deserving. But it's still a concern with the committee.

Texas Tech is a lock. And honestly so are LSU and TCU at this point.

I guess our definition of a lock is different. You can't say someone is a lock and then later use "at this point."
The teams I have listed as locks, means that there is absolutely nothing else that can happen to make them not be a national seed.

I don't see how Stunford passes up LSU in this discussion no matter what. LSU is a lock.
I think the question is, if UK keeps winning is there any way they are left out of these top 8 in favor of Stunford? Nope.
So, I think it's between UK and the Trees only for #8.

Oregon State really hasn't played anyone. I'm interested to see how they perform vs real competition.

Still though...only having 4 loses is quite an accomplishment.

This is basically the case. We don't know how much the committee is going to favor having 2 west coast teams in though.
If they absolutely want Stanford to be in as a second west coast team, assuming they take care of business this weekend (which they should), then it becomes a discussion of who is getting bumped out for Kentucky.
For that to happen Kentucky probably has to win the SEC Tournament, and then it comes down to 1 of UK, LSU, Texas Tech, TCU not getting in. The only thing that makes me nervous is LSU being the likely candidate because they don't want to give the SEC 3 national seeds, even though LSU would have a better resume than Stanford, Tech and TCU.

The Cmte, imo, has been at times ridiculously bias on giving host sites to regions that didn't deserve them, be it west coast or upper midwest.
But, the Cmte seems to be very much unbiased when it comes to the top 8. They seem to have no problem giving 3 or 4 seeds to one conference. I think they've left out the west coast entirely once or twice in the last 6 years. (too lazy to look up)

By saying that I mean at this point there is nothing those teams could do this week that would make them not be a top 8 seed

Correct.
People who keep comparing LSU vs. Kentucky don't realize...
-LSU has the second most wins vs top 50 rpi teams in the nation. (only behind Florida)
-LSU has the seventh hardest schedule to date (only behind Florida in terms of rpi)
-LSU shared a regular season title with Florida in the SEC.
The SEC got 4 national seeds last year, this year they will get at least 2 and very well may get 3. If Kentucky earns a national seed (which they very well may) it will be from another team.
