I believe Walter willl return in the next movie, not only because we don't "see" the ending of their fight but a few prior scenes. Keep the drawn out scene of David teaching Walter to play the flute in mind.

After Shaw is shown on the table with her insides dissected (this is how David learns to create an egg / reproducing organism, I believe. Think back to Prometheus' cesarean scene where David says she has excellent survival instincts also). David goes to the egg chamber and creates life by infecting a crew member with a classic Xeno.

We then see David playing the flute in a eulogy to Shaw to show his appreciation for her giving him the ability to create life. He's playing the exact song that powers up the ship in Prometheus and Walter hears the notes.

They're on the engineer's homeworld, so presumably there will be thousands of ships for Walter to commandeer.

Where are they going, you ask? Origae 6 -- is it LV426 from the original? I'm not sure yet. We do know the original ship housed a cargo hold full of intact eggs. David must've loaded an Engineer ship with these eggs (but why is an Enginner / space jockey in the pilot seat?).

Also for anyone interested, this is an awesome breakdown of Prometheus. I'm still not sold 100% on his interpretation of the black goo but it explains some of the ideas running through the movie--creator of life vs destroyer of life and killing your maker:

I can't say you're wrong, because we have no idea where the next movie will go, but it wouldn't really make sense for there to be more ships in the story. If there were other ships that could be commandeered, David already would have done that and left the dead planet since we know he could operate them. David was stranded on the planet, that was why he turned on the beacon.
