There are 46 homes in my neighborhood and 15 of us are not a part of the HOA due to having a different home builder that did not require us to sign a HOA contract when our homes were constructed. They tried to trick some of us into voluntarily joining by sending us contracts in the mail. But word got out quickly that we did not have to belong to the HOA unless we choose to be. Hell no. All of our next door neighbors belong to the HOA but not us.

I have access to a brand new pool. Pretty sweet for a miniscule annual payment and no upkeep.

Back to the OP's point. It's a sad day when OT Ballers buy huge houses, fancy cars and wine and dine like big shots and they can't even pay their bills.

The worst part is when a volunteer on the HOA board asks for payment on past dues (discreetly and privately,) these are the people who act like they've been disrespected. Trash personified.
