It's exactly why I ask to go Dutch. Especially with online dating. I also don't do dinner on a meet up

How do you bring this up? Do you warn her ahead of time? Or are you a woman?

I haven't had many first dates, but I always offered to pay (or would pay for a component of the date if we did something after dinner). It was pretty much always denied.

Probably a gross old fashioned double standard, but I would feel weird about a guy asking us to go dutch before the date even started.

I'm a man. Once we agree to meet I just ask. I always ask and have only been told no once. She didn't get a date. I've actually been told they prefer this numerous times.

I always just pay it and don't make it a big deal. Waitress brings the check to me naturally, I put the card in the black thing, conversation never stops. Simple as that
