At least take a chance on one of the top QBs in the draft. Their current strategy doesn't seem to be working.

Meh, we've seen teams make it to the Superbowl, even win the Superbowl, with mediocre QBs.
Dilfer and the Ravens
Grossman and the Bears
Manning and the Giants
Newton and the Panthers

Yeah, I completely agree.
No one denies that defense is important, but if you can't put points on the board then what the frick is the point? The Browns averaged 16.5 points last year.

And the teams that I remember doing that had all-time great NFL defenses.

Have they though? They've taken Quinn, Weeden, Manziel. They haven't passed on a ton of top QBs either. Last year is the only time I remember them trading down, and despite their futility, they're usually in that 3-10 range with their picks.

Trubisky had a ton of questions marks. The Browns take him over the consensus #1 in Garrett they get crucified by the media who loves piling on them.
I know quarterback is the most important position on the field, but in today's day in age a pass rushing defender is 2nd.

IF Trubisky hits and ends up being worth what was paid for him then these guys can come crawling out and claim it was them.
If he misses which is more likely......they can just remain anonymous.

Omg no way. He threw two interceptions? He obviously sucks.

Their biggest blunder was passing on Big Ben.

Sounds great but unless he can average putting up at least 26 points per game I don't know how they could get out of the cellar.

This is an awful, awful title

Also people forget that Kessler looked pretty promising when he played last year
