You left off Tyus Jones, I wonder why

You mean the guy who can't get off the bench in the NBA? Other than Kyrie and Jay Williams, K has not been able to get PG stars.

Your statements about Jackson and Thornton are nothing more than hindsight rationalization. No one was saying that stuff until after they left Duke.

I couldn't care less about what Jones has done in the NBA. He was the proverbial missing piece while at Duke, which contradicts your original point. Is their championship somehow invalidated because Jones has proved too small to play in the NBA? Coach K has 5 rings. I think he's doing fine recruiting point guards. Every coach has had recruiting missteps.

Duval is closer to Tyus Jones than he is to Frank Jackson or Derryck Thornton

Sexton could be better, for sure. He is a great PG.

As for Jackson, he was never expected to be a point guard in the classic sense. He was expected to be a guy who could come off the bench and get 10-12 points, initiate offense and get some assists. He succeeded in all of those things, but unfortunately, for the second straight year, we had a PG with a delusional father who forced his hand into making a stupid decision.

Last year was a disaster except for the non conference schedule and ACC tournament. However, there are a ton of reasons for it. I'd start with the fact that Harry Giles is completely done as a basketball player, when the media and fans expected a top 5 recruit. PG play was an issue, but I wouldn't even put it in the top 5 reasons for failure.

I think next year's team will be bad by Duke standards. Maybe 22-23 wins before the tournament. Bolden was terrible last year, and this year's recruiting class is considered pretty weak on a national level, so I don't know how much our guys will be able to help.

Ultimately, we are starting 3 freshmen, a guy who looked awful every moment last year, and Grayson Allen, with a bench that consists of two top 60 recruits in a bad class, 3 guys who couldn't get minutes last year, and the lowest ranked recruit in the last 30 years, so I am definitely not optimistic after last year's shitshow.

However, I hope everyone will be back in 2018 except Carter, Duval, and Allen.
