The over the air HD signals are within the UHF band and vertically polarized.

That means all you need is a UHF antenna from 1948-present to receive HD channels.

Several are in the high VHF range in BR, Laf, and LC. Many UHF antennas will still pick those up, but not all will.. However many older outdoor antennas were VHF only.
