Why are people in this thread acting like he's trying to compete with giants like Nike and Adidas?

This is a tiny company they started from scratch.

Even though he's got *some* name recognition, if you started a business from scratch and raked in $157k on your very first day, you'd be dreaming of your future riding around on a yacht.

Because they said they could and he turned down at least 8 million to start his own brand implying that he could make more than that on his own.

You're right. According to Lavar, he's not competing with them because they are above those companies:

Well I would also know that I made that with more publicity than any shoe has recieved in a long, long time. So I better figure out how to sell much more of a product with much less publicity.
