These two groups know exactly what will happen when DE goes up against Bama's D, we score zero (last year) or very few points.

Nice kid, hard worker and plenty good enough to beat State, Arkansas etc but he isnt going to beat an elite D.

We are not going to the promiseland this year Start the true freshman let him gain experience we are going to lose some games but will make a run in 2018. Why start etling 1 year lose 3-4 games and start over next year. Not sure what planet some of you live in but LSU isn't competing for championships this year

You're probably right. If I say he will score 20 points against an elite Bama type defense, then I would be talking out my tail or just guessing. But what QB will in this league?

But against anyone else, he will keep us in the game. He's already proven that, hasnt he?

Narcisse is LSU's QB of the near future, but will not be ready to play until next season. He still has very tender knees that need to get strong, but the kids talent is undeniable. He's like a lefthanded Perrilloux, but a better runner.

Absolutely agree. And its not a knock on him there are very few QBs out there that give bama's D a hard time but the two most recent examples were Manziel and Watson, athletic guys with decent arm strength.

What planet are you on?

They are 7/2 to win the freaking SEC championship and play for the entire thing!
That means even if it plays out like the experts say, we are in the Sugar Bowl or some other BCS bowl most likely.

In college you play to win this year until the season and your goals are lost. Its not like you have 100 million dollars invested in a rookie draft pick.
This isnt the NFL.

What did A&M win? Howd Manziel do against us?

But the bigger point is this, LSu doesnt have anyone nearly as good as those two on its roster, so you have to play the guy that gives you the best chance to win each game. Thats your job if you are the HC.

Because this isn't how highly competitive coaches think. They focus one year at a time and worry about the next year when it comes.

Why would any smart coach start a freshman just to see how he does? That's beyond the usual fan stupidity. Why not start the best QB and yeah your team it's best chance to win every game this year.
I don't think some fans realize how team chemistry works. If the seniors and other leaders on your squad think you are sacrificing THEIR season you are going to have a mutiny on your hands. Just my thoughts.

So true 33. Any coach owes it to his team to play his best players and to honestly try to win every game. Sacrificing this season in hopes of doing better next season? That's just crazy and your team will know it.
How do you explain to the defense that you are playing your second best quarterback this year so that next year he'll be better prepared. Oh, and screw you this year. Idiots

Brennan will be on campus on June 3rd. Problem solved!

I wish it were that easy. I think someday he will be our guy and I hope he adapts that quick but it's just not likely at all.

Arm talent thus far has been suspect.

I don't mean to be contrarian but I'm old enough to remember Danny Wuerffel shredding stout defenses. Granted he was surrounded by NFL talent but my purple and gold glasses see a lot of young talent on LSU's roster. For that matter the great Joe Montana didn't have a lot of heat on the ball. But Sourrier and Walsh saw what they had and worked around the flaws. Poise and playcalling are more important than arm strength. Let's see what Canada can do.

Etling is not the best qb on the team, he is just most experienced. Hopefully Narcisse or Brennan can surpass him over the summer. Must yall forgot Etling was 4th string at Purdue.

Look around this league, where are the QB's better than Etling?

I'll take Hurts, Stidham, Shea Patterson, Eason, Allen, and Jake Bentley.

Do you just not like Scott, or just the people who do? What happens if you're wrong about MB? Its ok to like one player. But can you like him without bashing others? Just an idea. After all, you never how things are going to turn out. The favorite guy is always the guy that we haven't seen. As fans, most have yet to see LS, LN, or MB. 1 redshirt fresh, and 2 true fresh. Lets get our popcorn, and pray for a good show.

I'll trust our new OC to make the best decision at QB until he gives me a reason not to, and no, one spring practice game that just so happened to be on tv isn't reason enough.

I'm more conventional. I generally like it when my trust is earned. Whose the right guy may be more art, than science.
