Is this about where y'all expected them to be at this point? I know it's not an official poll and won't be the last one, but figured I'd share. I figured we'd be in the 9-12 range so this isn't too surprising. Only real surprise to me was Oklahoma State at #6.

quote:

Outlook: Ed Orgeron's first spring did little to alleviate LSU fans' lingering concerns about the team's offense. Returning starting quarterback Danny Etling struggled mightily during the spring game, and then he underwent minor back surgery when spring practice was over. The bad news for new offensive coordinator Matt Canada: Neither Justin McMillan nor early enrollee Lowell Narcisse seemed ready to push Etling. In fact, Orgeron wants to see incoming freshman Myles Brennan play before he names a starter. Another concern for the Tigers: Star defensive end/linebacker Arden Key hasn't participated in football activities since February for unexplained personal reasons. Orgeron has said he hopes that Key returns to the team at some point this summer.

We have been ranked about 12 since 2012. So tired of being irrelevant

I think that's fair based on the past few seasons. We're also hard to project with the coaching changes.

Pretty sure Joe Montana would "struggle mightily" if he had to play behind a line that performed as poorly as the one Etling had that night. Having zero time or space to look downfield and step up in the pocket can make even the best QBs look mediocre. I just worry that Etling's lack of running ability and shiftiness will limit Canada in terms of the variety of plays he can call.

I love these articles. Etling went against the No. 1 defense in the Spring game. A similar defense to the one the made the Heisman-award-winning QB look like Brandon Harris in our last game. The offense had 14 practices. Half the OL was missing.

Looking st the parade of schools splashed all over this poll, my guess is two fold:
1. They were stretching to avoid ranking too many SEC teams too high.
2. Which required them to name as many "other" teams from "other" conferences as they could think of, for the sake of having assorted "fillers" between the real strong (SEC) teams on the list.

I don't see how we can complain about this ranking at all. first of all, pre season rankings don't mean shite. is your ego bruised? that ranking will change IF AND WHEN WE DESERVE IT. that means winning football games. being at 12 with teams we play ahead of us is a great place to be. win and we make the playoffs.
